Irish Practice Robinson McIlwaine Architects will design the Newry Railway Station in Northern Ireland.

The City of Newry will get the proposed new station after a 14-year waiting period.

A proposal to upgrade the station was presented in mid 1990s and in 2002 when Newry gained city status the need to revamp was emphasised again.

The proposal required a new purpose built station, platform upgrades and a ‘park and ride’ facility to accommodate 300 people.

The practice offered to relocate the station and added a new pedestrian bridge and major road improvements in the vicinity.
