An art gallery and theatre, designed by British practice Terry Pawson Architects has opened in Carlow, Ireland.

The building entitled Visual is a 3,726m², three-storey building, covered in opaque glass and raised on a concrete plinth, housing the large George Bernard Shaw Gallery, which is surrounded by other small galleries and a theatre.

The building features gallery space with a ceiling height of 12m and the main white box gallery spaces are connected by exposed in-situ concrete features.

The textured wall surfaces, and the concrete ceilings offer a simplistic design layout, according to architects.
