Australian Minister for Environment Peter Garrett officially unveiled the Green Building Council of Australia’s (GBCA) new headquarters, boasting a ‘5 Star Green Star – Office Interiors v1.1’ rating for its use of ecofriendly materials.

The innovative GreenHouse features a grey-water recycling system, recyclable carpets, compost systems, worm farms, natural light and displacement ventilation instead of air-conditioning and was built using low-emission paints and timber from sustainable forests.

Displacement ventilation involves raising the floor 20cm onto a raised platform so that fresh air can be pumped into the space and pushed out from vents on the floor by each desk, creating a pleasant ambient temperature.
