Swiss architecture firm Herzog & de Meuron has unveiled designs for the new Parish Art Museum to be constructed on 5.7ha site in Southampton, New York State, in the US.
The museum will be located on Long Island and will provide over 3,700m² of space, of which 1,200m² will be dedicated to galleries.
The museum will also include offices, a kitchen and on-site storage space.
The museum building will be a horizontal structure tucked into the landscape, made up of two parallel wings joined by a central circulation spine running the length of the building.
The construction will be undertaken in a north-south orientation to allow light access. The concrete walls will be recessed under a white corrugated metal roof and feature large sections of glass to provide landscape views.
