The Homes and Communities Agency (HCA) in the UK said housebuilders will have to use architects already on the agency’s architecture and urban design panels, which will be up and running in November 2009.

The frameworks, which will be divided into Northern, Midlands and Southern regions, will include between six and 12 housebuilders.

Under the new framework, contractors will be offered public land with grants and planning permission on a deferred payment basis, being recovered through sales.

The new framework is expected to prompt new players to enter the housebuilding market, claims HCA.
