Berman Guedes Stretton has been granted planning consent for a five-storey extension to the Cheltenham Art Gallery and Museum in England.
The architect practice was selected from a list of 77 by a RIBA panel last year.
In a statement the firm said the building’s scale, form and materials have been used to compliment its 19th and 20th-century neighbours, referring to it as ‘an honest expression of 21st-century design’.
Work is due to start on the site in 2010 and is scheduled for completion in 2011.
