Zaha Hadid has designed and installed a new chamber music hall designed to work with Bach’s compositions that will feature within Manchester Art Gallery in the UK as part of the Manchester International Festival.

Hadid was commissioned to convert a top-floor exhibition room at the gallery, which would integrate the acoustics in the design of the structure.

The design comprises translucent fabric twirling down from the ceiling in expanding circles.

The fabric undulates against the metal frame, thereby assisting the acoustics.

Acoustic panels that hang over the stage area further diffuse the sound.

The music hall can seat 200 listeners.
