US-based developers Hines and Archstone have broken ground on CityCenterDC, a $700m mixed-use project in Washington DC, US.
The master plan for CityCenterDC was drawn up by global architectural firm Foster + Partners.

The first phase of the development will see the construction of six buildings housing 458 rental apartments and 216 condominiums, over 17,000m² of retail space and around 48,000m² of office space.
Plans also include the construction of 1,555 below-grade parking spaces, a new street grid and public open spaces.
The second phase of the project will include a 350-room hotel that will include over 10,000m² of retail space.
