CIMIC Group company UGL has won engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts to design and build two new solar farms in Australia.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has provided a €150M loan for the construction of new sections of the D4 highway and the R7 expressway in the Slovak Republic.The project includes 27km of new sections from Jarovce to Ivanka Sever and Ivanka Sever to Rača of the D4 highway — part of the comprehensive Trans-European Network development programme. Together with the R7 expressway, they will provide a connection between the D1 and D2 highways.The 32km R7 expressway from Prievoz to Holice will connect the D4 and D1 highways and provide access to the city of Bratislava from the southeast.The loan is part of a larger financial package totalling €875M provided to the concessionaire Zero Bypass Limited under a public-private partnership (PPP) scheme. Zero Bypass Limited — owned by Macquarie Corporate Holdings Pty Limited, Cintra Infraestructuras International and Porr AG — secured the contract to design, build, finance, operate and maintain the newly-constructed segments of D4 and R7 for 30 years after an open tender process.Sue Barrett, EBRD director for transport, said: “This is a very important project and the EBRD is pleased to join forces with other financiers to make it happen. “The new road sections will play an important role in easing traffic congestion around Bratislava, open up access to other parts of the country and connect the Slovak Republic with Trans-European Networks.”
Larsen & Toubro subsidiary L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering Limited (LTHE) has secured contracts worth INR11.7bn ($174M) across its various business segments.The business has won a lump-sum turnkey contract valued at INR3.55bn ($53M) from Indian Oil Corporation Limited (IOCL) for a coke drum system package including a 1.7M metric tonnes per annum delayed coker unit at its Haldia Refinery in West Bengal, India. Reliance Industries Limited has awarded another contract worth INR5bn ($74.4M) to L&T Hydrocarbon for its MEG, LDPE and CO shift & AGR shift of DTA units.LTHE has won an INR2bn ($29.7M) contract from Hindustan Mittal Energy Limited (HMEL) for composite mechanical works of its Low Cost Expansion Project and services for capacity expansion at Guru Gobind Singh Refinery, Bathinda. The scope of work involves the structural fabrication and erection, piping for multiple process units, tankage works, equipment erection, E&I works and shutdown works.The business has secured an order worth INR1.15bn ($17.1M) for an on-going project in Kuwait, which includes the fabrication of piping spools, to be supplied from L&T’s Kattupalli Yard near Chennai, and supply of static equipment to an Indian client from L&T’s Hazira Yard located in Gujarat.
The Land Transport Authority (LTA) of Singapore has awarded two civil contracts worth about SGD334m ($248.8m) for the construction of Amber and Bedok South stations in Singapore. Woh Hup Limited has secured a SGD146m ($108.7m) contract for the construction of Amber station, while the Bedok South Station and associated tunnels were awarded to China Jingye Engineering Corporation Limited in a contract worth SGD188m ($140m).Bedok South station will serve as the sixth Civil Defence shelter along the East Coast stretch of Thomson-East Coast Line (TEL).The 13km-long East Coast stretch of the 43km-long TEL will connect commuters living in the eastern parts of Singapore who are not directly served by the rail network, such as those in Tanjong Rhu, Siglap, Marine Parade, Upper East Coast and Bedok South.The East Coast stretch will have nine stations, including a station that interchanges with the Downtown Line at Sungei Bedok.The project will be completed in two stages, with the first seven stations, from Tanjong Rhu to Bayshore, expected to be ready in 2023 and the remaining two due to be completed in 2024.
