Turner Construction and Aecom have been selected by Hollywood Park Land Company to manage the construction of a new stadium for the Los Angeles Rams football team.The new 70,000-seat stadium is the centrepiece of a 298-acre mixed-use development being constructed in Inglewood, California.The stadium will include 275 luxury suites, over 16,000 premium seats, and about 279,000sq m of usable space. In addition to its seating capacity, the venue will also offer standing room for 27,000 spectators.Turner/AECOM joint venture principal-in-charge Robert Aylesworth said: "Construction of the new stadium is expected to provide more than 3,500 on-site construction jobs in Inglewood and, in total, more than 10,000 jobs through completion."We are bringing together a team of outstanding, highly creative people from Southern California, across the United States and around the world to build this once-in-a-lifetime project."The Turner/AECOM team joins three other firms already involved in the project: Project Development, which is providing project management services; HKS Architects of Dallas, which designed the new stadium; and Wilson Meany of San Francisco, which is providing entitlement and infrastructure management services.
US-based infrastructure firm Aecom has won a new $100M contract to provide programme management and construction management (PM/CM) services at the Dallas/Fort Worth (DFW) International Airport in Texas, USA.Aecom will be responsible for the provision of life cycle services to DFW’s Design, Code and Construction Department.The scope of the contract will include programme, project, design and construction management; contract administration; programme and project controls; public outreach and technical, third-party support.The five-year contract also covers a variety of potential projects, including both federally and non-federally funded airfield improvements, building projects and landside improvements.The company will continue to lead a joint venture team responsible for design and design management services for the refurbishments currently underway at DFW Terminal B and Terminal E, as part of the airport’s $2.7bn Terminal Renewal and Improvement Program.Aecom’s chairman and CEO Michael Burke said: “We are very proud of our long history of working with the Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport and being a part of their most important and iconic programs.“The confidence shown by DFW in selecting Aecom as their PM/CM partner for the next five years reflects the collaborative relationship we’ve worked hard to build together and Aecom’s in-house strengths in aviation architecture and engineering.”Aecom has served as a consultant to DFW for over 30 years.
US-based infrastructure firm AECOM has secured an engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contract for the $700M Alliant Energy Riverside Energy Center expansion project in Wisconsin, US.AECOM will be responsible for the design, supply, install and start-up of a 2x1 gas-fired combined cycle. The power plant will use gas-fired combustion turbine technology to produce about 700MW of electricity for Alliant Energy customers in Wisconsin. AECOM’s chairman and CEO Michael Burke said: “We’re pleased to build the next-generation power plant that will enable Alliant Energy to keep delivering efficient and cost effective energy to thousands of customers and businesses.“This project taps an experienced, talented team unrivaled in our industry for delivering energy efficient power generation sites across the country.”The project is expected to be complete by early-2020.
AECOM’s unit Tishman Construction has been appointed to manage construction of an $1bn commercial office development in Manhattan, New York.The 1,401ft-tall skyscraper, called One Vanderbilt, will be located in the heart of New York’s East Midtown business district. The 58-storey building will feature 149,000sq m of Class A commercial space, a public transit hall at the base of the building connected to a 1,300sq m public plaza, and $220M of public transit improvements to the Grand Central transit hub.Upon completion, the project is expected to be the second-tallest office tower in New York City. Tishman will construct the office building, expected to achieve LEED v4 Gold certification, for New York City-based commercial property owner, SL Green Realty Corp. AECOM subsidiary Tishman Construction has been selected to provide preconstruction and construction management services for Brookfield’s One Manhattan West office development in New York.The $2.1bn project will feature a 71-storey office building with a gross area of 195,000sq m.One Manhattan West will anchor the Northeastern corner of Brookfield’s 650,000sq m Manhattan West development, which is being built around a two-acre tree-lined park.Designed by Skidmore, Owings and Merrill, the building is targeting LEED-Gold certification. Flatiron Construction and AECOM have been provisionally selected by the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDoT) to design and construct the $215M C-470 Tolled Express Lanes Segment 1 project in the Denver metro area.The CDoT named the companies as the ‘Apparent Selected Proposer’ for the 12-mile project, which will involve the addition of two tolled express lanes on westbound C-470 from I-25 to Colorado Boulevard, along with the reconstruction of part of the existing pavement.It will include the addition of auxiliary lanes at selected locations, the replacement of bridges over the South Platte River and the widening of existing bridges throughout the project area.The development will also involve safety and operational improvements along C-470 between I-25 and Quebec by adding direct-connect ramps and grade separations for the multi-use trail.Flatiron will lead the fully integrated design and construction team, AECOM will provide construction and design services for the project expected to commence construction work in mid-2016. The lanes are set to be complete in early 2019.
Aecom Capital and FFP New Hydro have formed a new partnership to develop and build six hydropower projects on the Muskingum River in southeastern Ohio.The six projects, developed by the Muskingum River Hydro partnership, are expected to produce a total of 23MW, which is sufficient to power 11,500 households. The projects will entail an investment of over $100m.Four of these projects have already secured Federal Energy Regulatory Commission licenses. The low-impact generation facilities will be added to existing lock and dam structures, which are owned and operated by the Ohio Department of Natural Resources.The projects are anticipated to commence construction in 2017 and will be operational by 2018. Each project is anticipated to create 100 to 150 jobs during the construction phase, and continued staffing and service employment during operations.Aecom Capital CEO John Livingston said: “Muskingum River Hydro LLC represents an attractive opportunity for Aecom Capital to strengthen our commitment to clean energy projects and invest and develop in new hydropower on existing dams alongside the industry leading team of investors and developers at FFP New Hydro.”
