The work involved the construction of a bridge over the River Nambucca in Macksville, two bridges across Warrell Creek and two intersections.Both projects are part of the Pacific Highway Upgrade plan to improve and extend the highway that connects Sydney with Brisbane, financed by the governments of Australia and New South Wales.
Sener and Acciona have begun the turnkey construction of the €500M Kathu Solar Park Complex in South Africa.Located in the town of Kathu, in South Africa’s Northern Cape Province, the 100MW plant will be able to generate enough electricity to supply 80,000 homes.Both firms will carry out the engineering, construction management and commissioning of the plant until its turnkey delivery. The project, part of the 2010 Integrated Resource Program (IRP) National Electricity Plan, will provide an increase in the country's generation capacity until it reaches 86.8GW in 2030.The project, which uses Sener’s ‘SENERtrough’ technology and a molten salt storage system, is scheduled to commence operations in 2018. It represents the second solar thermal project in South Africa on which both companies are working together, the first being the recently-opened 50MW Bokpoort plant.
Spanish-based company Acciona Agua has completed construction and announced the opening of the wastewater treatment plant and underwater outlet of La Chira in Lima, Peru.The €97M project will treat the wastewater of about 3M people, representing around one-third of the population of Peru’s capital city.The plant features an advanced system to neutralise bad odours through biological bacterial treatment, reducing the atmospheric pollution created by the traditional use of chemicals in this kind of process. The plant is to be operated under a 25-year concession by a joint venture led by Acciona Agua and Graña y Montero.
