The All England Lawn Tennis Club (AELTC) has selected UK-based construction and property services company, Willmott Dixon, to deliver new members’ centre at Wimbledon in South-West London, UK.

The new integrated facility on Somerset Road will be located adjacent to the venue for tennis’ event, The Championships, Wimbledon.

As part of the Somerset Road project, Willmott Dixon will demolish the existing indoor courts and replace them with a new facility to enhance the AELTC’s offering for both its members and competitors.

The project involves the construction of 12 new tennis courts (six indoor and six outdoor) and associated Clubhouse facilities; a single-storey underground car park for up to 338 vehicles; an enhanced arrivals experience for competitors; and upgraded Centre Court chiller plant.

The building will feature double-curved roof structure while its surrounding landscaping will ensure it blends in sensitively with the local area, Willmott Dixon said.

Willmott Dixon South London and the South East managing director Roger Forsdyke said: “We are looking forward to be working with The All England Lawn Tennis Club to create these superb new facilities in a location that is synonymous with excellence in everything associated with tennis.

“We’ll be bringing our experience of working in live environments to ensure we keep any impact of work on the local community to an absolute minimum – something underlined by our projects regularly scoring above average marks by the Considerate Constructors Scheme.”

The upgrade work, which is part of the AELTC’s Master Plan, is planned to commence in August 2019 and be completed by the end of October 2021.

In July this year, Trafford Housing Trust and L&Q have partnered with Willmott Dixon for the development of Homes England’s £47m D’Urton Lane site in Preston, UK.

The project involves the construction of 250 new homes for shared ownership, affordable rent and private sale and it will be located in D’Urton Lane in the Fulwood area.
