UK-based property developer Weston Homes has secured planning permission for a £93m ($119.7m) residential scheme, named Edinburgh Way, in Harlow area in Essex, England.

As part of this effort, Weston Homes has acquired the site of the former Pearson Education headquarters car park in Harlow from Land Charter Homes.

The acquired site will be redeveloped into Edinburgh Way, which will feature 361 stylish one-, two- and three-bedroom apartments surrounded by landscaped gardens.

The scheme involves the construction of an 11-storey building with glass-fronted balconies and terraces, brick and glass façade, and a raised glazed ground floor.

Edinburgh Way will feature landscaped podiums, a new public realm and pedestrian links to Harlow Town Park. Parking space will be provided on the ground and first floors.

Weston Homes chairman and executive Bob Weston said: “Weston Homes are excited to be bringing Edinburgh Way to Harlow.

“We expect this high quality scheme to set a new standard for development in the Harlow area and are delighted to be expanding our portfolio into Harlow with this great scheme.”

Weston Homes said that the new scheme will be within walking and cycling distance of a range of leisure, shopping and recreational services situated in Harlow town centre.

The site is located amongst several areas of green space, including Harlow Town Park, Marshgate Spring Nature Reserve and canal towpaths along the River Stort to the north and east.

The company, in a statement, said: “Edinburgh Way will provide superb transport links, located just 250 metres away from Harlow Town train station, which has direct links to London Liverpool Street station in 40 minutes, and Cambridge in 50 minutes.”

Earlier in 2019, Weston Homes and the Estates & Agency Group have secured planning approval from the London Borough of Barking & Dagenham for the £350m regeneration of Abbey Retail Park in Barking, London.

The Resolution to Grant planning permission allows for the regeneration of the six-acre Abbey Retail Park into ‘Abbey Quays’, a new riverside urban-village.
