Watpac to deliver Casey Hospital Expansion Project in Australia

Australian construction firm Watpac has won a contract to deliver the Casey Hospital Expansion Project in southeast Melbourne, Australia. 

Funded by the Victorian government, the project worth AUD135m ($108.6m) will provide additional public healthcare facilities at Casey Hospital.

Watpac is working as part of the Plenary Health consortium, which also includes Plenary Group and Brookfield GIS.

Under the contract, Watpac will be responsible for the finalisation of design and ensuing construction.

The 13,000 sq m expansion will house 160 new beds, the hospital’s first intensive care unit, six new operating theatres, additional recovery capacity.

Additionally, the facility will also feature a new day surgery unit, upgraded pharmacy, pathology and back-of-house areas, parking space for over 300 cars,. It will also include a new front entry building that houses education and training spaces for Monash University.
