Washington Adventist Hospital has broken ground on a new $331m hospital in Montgomery County, Maryland.
The new 170-bed hospital will be spread out on 48 acres at Plum Orchard Drive and Cherry Hill Road, along the border of Montgomery County and Prince George’s County.
The facility will feature large, all-private patient rooms, organised patient care areas, ample space on campus for outpatient services and physician offices, as well as on-campus parking for staff, physicians, patients and visitors.
The project is expected to create about 7,500 jobs in the region.
Washington Adventist Hospital’s acute-care operations will move from the existing Takoma Park location to the new hospital once it opens in early 2019.
The current Takoma Park location will remain, housing other healthcare services including the 40-bed behavioural health unit, Adventist healthcare physical health and rehabilitation services and the women’s centre clinic.
