Vantage Data Centers, a data centre solutions provider, has unveiled plan to build a new data centre campus in Ashburn in Virginia, US.

The centre will be constructed on 42 acres of land parcel which the company acquired recently. The project includes construction of a new 108MW wholesale data centre campus with five buildings.

Located at the intersection of Route 28 and Waxpool Road, the new Vantage campus will entail an investment of over $1bn, and will provide over one million square feet of space.

Vantage president and CEO Sureel Choksi said: “Vantage’s expansion to Northern Virginia is in direct response to demand from our cloud and large technology enterprise customers, who have expansion plans on the east coast.

“We are very excited to expand beyond the west coast to a third market, with our largest data centre campus to date. Northern Virginia is a vital and strategic market for our customers and company.”

Design and permitting for the new campus are currently under progress while the construction work is scheduled to commence in early 2018.
