UK-based housing association Catalyst has selected United Living as the construction partner for the next stage of Portobello Square regeneration project in the Royal Borough of Kensington & Chelsea.

Phase 2A of the scheme will involve the construction of 60 new homes for social rent and 31 for private sale. The design and build contract will also have an option to be extended to include Phase 2B.

Upon completion, Portobello Square will provide nearly 1,000 new homes, more than 3,000 sq m of commercial space and 9,000 sq m of public space.

Tom Titherington, Catalyst executive director of property and growth, said: “We worked closely with our residents to ensure that we made the right decision and I am delighted that we will be working with United Living on the next phase of construction.

“Portobello Square is a fantastic looking scheme and we are very proud of it. Once complete, the new buildings will help shape a resilient, mixed-tenure neighbourhood that builds on the close sense of community that already exists in the area.”

Demolition of the existing buildings is currently under progress. Construction is expected to start in July 2017, while handovers are likely to be concluded by spring 2019.
