Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso (TTUHSC El Paso) has started construction on the $83M Medical Sciences Building (MSB) II in the US.

The five-storey building will cover an area of 20,429 sq m. The MSB II second, third, and fourth floors, featuring more than 8,082 sq m, will be dedicated to research, and will include laboratories, offices, and research administration.

The first floor will feature the campus' largest teaching auditorium, which will be able to accommodate up to 500 people.

Designed by the US-based architectural firm Perkins + Will, the building's exterior will reflect the architecture of the Spanish Renaissance, which is distinguished by ornate columns, red-tiled roofs, and colossal archways.

Sundt Construction will build the new project, which is expected to double the campus' research capacity.

Construction work on the MSB II is set to be concluded in two years.
