The Cordish Companies breaks ground on $150m casino project in US

Stadium Casino, a subsidiary of US-based real estate development and entertainment operating company The Cordish Companies, has broken ground on $150m Live! Casino in Pennsylvania.

The new 100,000ft² gaming, dining and entertainment destination will be part of the 1.3m ft² Westmoreland Mall development, which is located in Hempfield Township, Pennsylvania.

The Live! Casino will comprise 750 slots and around 30 live action table games; a Sportsbook; restaurants; and live entertainment venues.

Upon completion, the project is expected to generate $188m in annual economic impact, along with an additional $148m in economic impact from construction.

Live! Casino is expected to create 960 direct and indirect jobs during construction and about 500 permanent jobs for local and regional residents.

The Cordish Companies principal Jon Cordish said: “We couldn’t be more pleased to break ground on the newest Live! Casino project and expand this distinctive brand even further into Pennsylvania.

Furthermore, the company has announced the addition of Sports & Social Steel City as one of the dining options at Live! Casino.

The Sports & Social Steel City is a 445-seat, two-level location that will feature advanced AV technology, including a 45ft LED video screen, and a variety of interactive social games, such as bowling, a golf simulator, ping pong, and darts.
