Triangle London Developments has been chosen as the preferred development partner by Transport for London (TfL) to develop a site in Greenwich, south-east London.
TfL and Triangle London Developments, which is a consortium of Notting Hill Housing and developer U+I, will form a joint venture (JV) to transform the four-acre vacant site in Kidbrooke into a mixed-use development.
Plans include the construction of 400 new homes, of which 50% will be affordable. The project will also feature commercial, retail and office space, an improved transport hub and a village square.
TfL’s commercial development director, Graeme Craig, said: “Naming our preferred bidder is an important step forward in transforming this long-vacant site. We were delighted with the quality of design proposed by Triangle London Developments, and are excited about working with them to create a thriving, vibrant place to live and work.
“This is the first of dozens of sites across London that we expect to bring forward in joint venture using our Property Partnerships Framework, and it is a great place to start.”
Subject to final approval by the TfL Finance Committee and contract completion, the new JV will develop the concept designs in order to seek planning permissions. Construction on the site is expected to begin in 2018, with the first homes set to be available from 2020.
Kidbrooke was the first in a series of TfL sites to be released for development last year to support the Mayor of London's manifesto pledge to unlock public land to build affordable homes.
