Swagelok, a developer and manufacturer of fluid system solutions, has announced that it will begin construction of its new Global Headquarters and Innovation Center (GHQ) this month in Solon, Ohio.

The new 130,000ft² project will accommodate 250 current Swagelok associates with room for workforce expansion as the business continues to grow.

Expected to be completed by the spring of 2021, the building will house several customer-facing functions including executive leadership, corporate engineering, continuous improvement, sales support, communications and marketing.

It will also include new collaborative spaces for associates across and a Customer Welcome and Innovation Center on the first floor.

The company has partnered with Vocon, an architecture and design firm, to deliver the external and interior design of the building. Donley’s has been selected to provide services as the general contractor.

The three-storey building will be built around the existing manufacturing plant. The external of the building will feature glass and metal profile panels, reflecting its past history of precision metal machining.

Swagelok Company president and chief operating officer William Canady said: “We are creating a campus that inspires innovation, productivity, collaboration and problem solving in support of our strategic growth plans.

“Our new headquarters building is an exciting next step on this journey. We look forward to bringing our associates, sales and service centers, customers and suppliers together to continue building a bright future for Swagelok.”

In May 2018, Swagelok announced its plans to construct the new building and planned to invest between $30m (£24m) and $50m (£40m) in the campus.

At that time, Swagelok Company chairman and chief executive officer Arthur Anton said: “We look forward to creating a world-class campus that demonstrates our position as an industry leader, showcases the global Swagelok brand, and supports our strategic growth plans, especially in solving the business challenges that our global customers face in designing and maintaining their fluid systems.”
