Strabag to construct Cracow’s tallest building

Austrian construction firm Strabag has been awarded a contract worth PLN380m (€89m) for the construction of five-building business centre in Cracow, Poland. 

The contract has been commissioned by investor TREIMORFA Project.

Under the design-build contract, Strabag will upgrade the existing building and build four additional ones (with up to nine floors), and provide the technical infrastructure.

The construction design was prepared in 4D: The 3D model was expanded through the addition of a temporal component so that the progress of construction could be simulated in the model at any time.

Strabag stated that part of five-building ensemble Unity Centre. At present, an in completed building is located at the centre of the city.

Strabag CEO Thomas Birtel said: “With the construction of the Unity Centre, this abandoned building, which has stood unfinished in central Cracow since 1979, will finally be resurrected. At a height of 102.5m, the Unity Tower will also be the city’s tallest tower.”

The project is scheduled for completion in mid-2021.
