Strabag begins construction on new residential project in Vienna, Austria

Strabag Real Estate (SRE), a subsidiary of Austrian construction firm Strabag, has commenced construction on residential complex located at Rößlergasse 13, 1230 Vienna, within the In der Wiesen Ost development area.

The Facettenreich project will create a modern living space in Vienna which is expected to meet all the requirements of urban life, the firm noted.

STRABAG is the general contractor for the project, which is designed by Architekten Tillner & Willinger ZT.

Vienna's 23rd district head Gerald Bischof said: “We are proud to be laying another building block together with STRABAG Real Estate for the best living comfort in the dynamic and growing 23rd district.”

Scheduled for completion in autumn 2021, the project involves the construction a total of 143 privately financed owner-occupied flats with modern and ecologically sustainable living standards.

It involves a total three buildings including “Esprit” featuring textiles in eye-catching colours, “Harmonie” featuring wood panels and “Elegance” comprising timeless aesthetics in glass.

Additionally, the development involves a flexible event space, a modern gym and a meeting area for future owners.

SRE Austria managing director Erwin Größ said: “Our multifaceted project takes into account the ever-growing desire for comfortable living accommodations close to nature, based on ecological construction and in a good central location.”

In July this year, Strabag Rail, a subsidiary of Austrian construction firm Strabag, has secured a contract worth €150m (£134.6m) for the modernisation of a railway section in Czech Republic.

The consortium will be responsible for the refurbishment of an 11.3km railway line between Soběslav and Doubí. Work on the project will begin in September and is expected to last for 46 months.

The work also includes completing the 11.3km long double-track line, the connecting the constructed section to the Soběslav railway station.

The contract has been awarded by SŽDC, the national railway infrastructure company of Czech Republic, to a consortium of Strabag Rail, Eurovia and Metrostav in which Strabag holds 53.21% of stake.
