US-based hospitality firm Standard International, the parent company of The Standard, has announced the opening of The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives resort near Male.

The resort is the brand’s first property in Asia and is located on a naturally protected island between the Raa and Baa Atolls. It is a short seaplane ride away from Male and comprises 115 private villas.

The resort offers a combination of relaxation, social life and cultural programming for groups of friends or singles.

The Standard, Huruvalhi Maldives has an airy and intimate lobby, which is accessible 24 hours a day. All villas feature their own private lounge deck and plunge pool.

Six unique culinary offerings range from a beachfront BBQ shack serving freshly caught seafood, to Maldivian cuisine that features ingredients sourced directly from the company’s island farm.

The resort also offers guided diving snorkelling through naturally protected house reef, sunset boat excursions to uninhabited islands and undiscovered reefs, and night fishing and private destination dining.

The Standard Spa offers facilities such as a communal hammam, daily yoga, aroma steam room, personal training and nine private treatment rooms.

Furthermore, the resort allows the guests to experience nightlife, from tribal beats at a beach bonfire to a glass-bottom nightclub.

The Standard, Maldives is part of the company’s extensive global pipeline, which includes Milan, Paris, Lisbon, Bordeaux, Koh Samui, Phuket, Hua Hin, Mexico City and Chicago.

Standard International CEO Amar Lalvani said: “It is such a treat within the same year to show the world what The Standard can be in on one of the busiest places and one of the most tranquil places on the planet.

“What makes me so proud is that despite the vast difference in setting, the culture of both are unmistakably Standard.”

The resort offers Early Bird Rates from $569 inclusive of taxes and service charges, and two breakfasts per day in a Lagoon Beach Villa category. Regular rates start from $740, including breakfast.
