Skanska wins tunnels renovation contract in Norway

Swedish construction specialist Skanska has won a contract from the Norwegian Public Roads Administration for the renovation of two tunnels on the E6 in Akershus, Norway.

The contract, valued at SEK400m ($48.6m), will include fire safety and rock support improvement in the Nordby tunnel.

The Nordby tunnel is 3,850 m long with two files in each direction in double pipes.

The work will include the replacement of road surface and repairing of drainage system in the Smiehagen tunnel, which is 892m long with two lanes in one direction. It will also involve the construction of a new purification plant that takes water from both tunnels.

Construction on the project will begin in August 2017 and is scheduled to be completed in February 2019.
