Development and construction firm Skanska has won contracts worth $568M in the US.
The company secured a $75M contract from the Massachusetts Port Authority to build a nine-storey transportation centre in the Seaport District in Boston. The centre will cover an area of 60,000 sq m, and will feature 1,550 parking spaces. The project has already begun and is expected to be complete in early 2018.
Skanska, in joint venture with Flatiron, Stacy and Witbeck, has also secured a $220M contract from the California Department of Transportation to build two segments of the Interstate 5 North Coast Corridor Phase 1 Project.
The scope of the work specifically includes HOV upgrades to the San Elijo highway section of Interstate 5 and the rail crossing at the San Elijo Lagoon. Overall, the North Coast Corridor project in San Diego County's northern coastal area will involve multiple upgrades to the Interstate 5 highway, its bridges, and adjacent railways.
Construction work on the project is expected to commence in early 2017, and be completed in the end of 2020.
Additionally, Skanska has signed a $53M contract with the Deerfield Academy to build a new athletic centre in Massachusetts.
The project will include the replacement of Deerfield Academy’s current ice rink with a new 12,600 sq m structure, and the renovation of the existing facility’s locker rooms, wrestling room, and circulation spaces. It will also involve the construction of a new entry courtyard, boiler room, and chiller plant.
Construction work is set to begin in March 2017 and be completed in the fourth quarter of 2018.
