Swedish construction firm Skanska has been awarded a SEK1.2bn ($140M) contract by Locum for the construction of a new hospital building in Huddinge, Sweden.

The 29,000sq m building — to be located at the Karolinska University Hospital — will feature 23 operating rooms, a sterilization centre, eight rooms for interventional services, and 21 rooms for X-ray examinations and related support areas.

Construction on the project — aiming to achieve a Green Building Gold certification — has started in June 2016 and is expected to be complete in 2019.
