Construction firm Skanska has been awarded a $178M contract to build a new women and children’s healthcare facility in Newark, Delaware.

The eight-storey, 36,000 sq m building — awarded by Christiana Care Health System — will include a replacement to the neonatal intensive-care unit, and the expansion of the outpatient units, lab, pharmacy, and dietary clinical and logistical support services.

Skanska was previously awarded a contract to expand the facility’s four-level parking garage for patients and visitors.

Construction on the project is in progress and its completion is scheduled for January 2020.
