Skanska bags $167m contract to build office building and movie theatre in Virginia

Construction specialist Skanska has won a $167m contract from The Meridian Group and Rockefeller Group to build a new office building and movie theatre in Virginia, US. 

Under the terms of the contract, Skanska will build the new 20-storey, approximately 42,500 sq m of Class A office building.

Additionally, the company will construct a movie theatre spanning over an area of more than 10,000 sq m.

Both the new office building and movie theatre will be constructed over a shared five-level, below-grade parking garage. The office project will be seeking LEED Gold certification.

Construction on the project has started and is likely to be completed in October 2018.

Skanska specialises in building construction, civil infrastructure and developing commercial properties in select US markets.
