Real estate developer Select Property Group has secured planning consent from the Salford City Council for the construction of three new residential buildings in the Greengate district of Salford in Greater Manchester.
With the approval, the company will now redevelop a 1.9-acre site that is bounded by the existing CitySuites site on Chapel Street, the railway line, Greengate and a railway depot.
Designed by CallisonRTKL, the three-tower residential scheme will feature a total of 503 apartments at Embankment West, which is a part of Greengate Regeneration Area.
The 18-level Block A will house 147 apartments, while the Block B with 16 floors will include 209 apartments in addition to a ground-floor commercial unit. Block C would be an 18-storey high tower with 147 serviced apartments. It will serve as a second CitySuites site.
Demolition contractor Bagnell UK has been selected to remove a viaduct structure on site while Murraywood Construction will be carrying out ground works.
Select Property Group strategic planning director Michele Steel said: “With Embankment 101 and CitySuites now open, the whole Embankment area is really starting to take shape so we’re delighted with the decision to enhance the area further and we’re looking forward to starting on site.”
Construction is expected to commence in summer 2018, once a main contractor is selected for the project.
