Scentre Group in collaboration with joint owner QICGRE has announced to build 140 specialty stores under their new development, Westfield Coomera, on the northern Gold Coast in Queensland, Australia.
Scheduled to become operational in late 2018, the AUD470m ($374m) development will provide specialty stores to the area, including Woolworths, Coles, Kmart, Target, and an Event Cinemas complex with Gold Class.
Situated just 500m off the Pacific Motorway (M1) and next to the Coomera train station, the 59,000 sq m centre will transform the local retail experience, by offering a new benchmark dining, lifestyle and entertainment destination for the community.
The project will feature an alfresco dining precinct and a fashion retailer mix responsive to the Gold Coast’s latest fashion scene.
Scentre Group COO Greg Miles said: “This is the first Westfield ‘greenfield’ development in more than a decade and will form part of the longer-term Coomera Town Centre project that will encompass a wide range of amenities for the local region.
“The future town centre will include community space, commercial, residential and mixed use elements, which will complement the retail and lifestyle destination we’re currently developing for residents of the Gold Coast’s fastest-growing region.
“Westfield Coomera will be a true community hub that has been curated to meet the needs of local customers whom we look forward to welcoming to the centre on its anticipated completion late next year.”
Construction on the project is currently in progress. The development will provide about 7,500 jobs to the area during construction and in retail upon completion.
