The 14,600 sq m development will feature retail space, to be anchored by multiple brands such as Marks & Spencer and Next, and leisure space including a six-screen Cine-UK (Cineworld) Cinema, a 108-room Travelodge hotel and six restaurants.
Construction work has already started on the Cineworld, the restaurant block, the main retail block on Townwall Street, and the Travelodge hotel.
The project, part of Dover District Council’s wider regeneration, is estimated to cost £53.25M. It is being financed by Legal and General on behalf of LGIM Real Assets’ Managed Fund. Gallagher Group will serve as a sub-contractor on the project.
Neil Crawford, LGIM Real Assets head of retail and leisure development, said: “Already significantly pre-let, St James, Dover will provide a modern, fit for purpose and highly prominent retail and leisure destination for the town.
“We are continuing to see significant demand from retailers wanting to sign up to the scheme, and it is great to see works progressing, bringing to life the transformation of the town centre.”
The project is expected to be wrapped up in the first quarter of 2018.
