UK-based construction firm Balfour Beatty has completed piling work for the £150M residential project, The Madison, in London, UK.

The 53-storey project, located in Canary Wharf, is being developed by LBS Properties.

Designed by Make Architects, The Madison will include 423 high specification studios, one-, two- and three-bedroom homes, including 104 affordable homes. It will also feature a hotel-style lounge, a gym and swimming pool.

According to Balfour Beatty, a total of 625 piles, the equivalent to 12.5km and ranging between 12m to 25m in length, have been driven into the ground to provide foundations for the 180m tower.

Balfour Beatty managing director of regional business in London, Graham Hill, said: “Utilising Balfour Beatty’s knowledge of complex structures in tall towers and our wide in house expertise we have completed the initial stage of ground works at The Madison.

“Once completed, the scheme will be a landmark addition to the luxury high end residential towers within the area of Canary Wharf."

Construction work started in March 2016 and is scheduled for completion in 2020. The project will create 400 jobs during the peak of construction. More than 50% of the development has already been sold.
