Polish real estate firm Panattoni Europe is set to commence work on a project to transform the former Kavalier glassworks in Hostomice near Teplice in the Czech Republic into modern industrial premises.

The project involves demolishing and rehabilitating the site.

Expected to create up to 300 new jobs for the Teplice region, the Panattoni Teplice South industrial park will offer 32,000m² of industrial space for light industry and goods distribution operations.

Panattoni Europe Czech Republic and Slovakia managing director Pavel Sovička said: “Kavalier glassworks was one of the many traditional industrial enterprises that fell ten years ago as a result of the economic crisis.

“At the time, virtually none of these abandoned factories could be used for other purposes, and therefore they gradually became brownfields. Now we want to give a new life to the Hostomice site so that its story can continue.
It’s great news, because it means that 10 years after the crisis we can cope with its long-term consequences.”

Panattoni Park Teplice South complex is located directly on the exit from the partially four-lane I/13 road which connects the Ústí nad Labem Region with the Liberec and Karlovy Vary Regions.

Panattoni Europe Czech Republic and Slovakia business director Klára Sobotková said: “It is interesting that after the site has been cleaned up, we will also be using a recycling line for building materials that is on its last legs, but which still works on the site, to prepare the new industrial zone.

“The crushed recycled material, which is the result of the regrinding of the last concrete slabs, will help us to reinforce the areas for the construction of the new building. It is in line with the ecological trend to make the most of all available resources that are already in the locality.”

At present, Panattoni Europe is launching several major projects in north and northwest Bohemia.
