OHL JV breaks ground on €215m rail project in Sweden

An equal stake joint venture (JV) of OHL and NNC has started construction on the 8km stretch of railway line between Arlöv and Flackarp in Sweden.

The €215m project, which was awarded by Trafikverket (Swedish Transport Administration) in August this year, also marks OHL’s first project in Sweden.

The scope of the project involves construction of two temporary tracks parallel to the current 5km line through which the railway traffic will flow during construction.

The contract will result in four tracks instead of the two current ones, for which a recess will be made up to 6m deep over five of the eight kilometres of the route, including a 400m underground section close to the Akarp station.

The scope of the contract also includes construction of three new stations in Burlöv, Akarp and Hjärup, four overpasses and two underpasses, as well as three passages under the country's most important road (E6/E20) and its extension to three lanes in each direction.
