Plans for the next phase of the £200M Stephenson Quarter development in Newcastle have secured the approval from the Newcastle [pictured] City Council.
The project will include the construction of the North East Futures University Technical College (UTC) and a six-storey office building named Phoenix.
The project is being developed by Coulston Group.
David Clouston, managing director at Clouston Group, said: “We’re delighted to get the wholehearted support of the city council for this exciting next phase of development at Stephenson Quarter.
“The two buildings are mutually beneficial and interlinked. Phoenix will accommodate dynamic, high-growth companies and offer the potential for cooperation with the adjacent UTC providing students with work experience and mentoring opportunities.”
175 construction jobs are expected to be created during the construction phase, and the buildings are set to open in September 2018.
The Stephenson Quarter project already includes the Crowne Plaza Hotel, Stephenson Quarter Car Park, the 3,251 sq m Rocket office building, and the recently renovated Boiler Shop.
