Multiplex tops out $125M science building

Australian contractor Multiplex has celebrated the topping out of the University of New South Wales’ (UNSW) $125M biological sciences building in Australia.

The 21,730sq m project, located at the Kensington campus in Botany Street, includes the new nine-storey biological sciences building, a new atrium and improvements to the surrounding landscape.

To date, a total of 9,250cb m of concrete and 960t of reinforcement have been used in the development.

Multiplex regional managing director for New South Wales David Ghannoum said: “We are delighted to have topped out the new Biological Sciences Building on schedule. We have been able to draw on our specialist expertise in delivering high-quality research and educational facilities within live campus environments.”

The project, which has created job opportunities for 1,860 people, is scheduled to be complete in June 2017.
