Construction firm Multiplex has been selected by the Chinese developer Dalian Wanda Group to construct its £1bn One Nine Elms development near Vauxhall in London, UK.

Multiplex is the third contractor to take on the Chinese developer’s first UK project.

Interserve was first selected to deliver the project, but the firm and its joint venture partner China State Construction Engineering abandoned the project in April.

Later, Balfour Beatty beat Multiplex on the project rebid, but also stepped away after failing to agree the contract price.

Designed by US architect KPF, the project will feature 437 apartments and a five star hotel across two towers, comprising 42 and 58 storeys respectively.

Wanda One (UK) director Tim Gawthorn said: “We are delighted to announce the appointment of Multiplex as our main contractor for the delivery of One Nine Elms.

“Following the EU referendum, this important announcement further demonstrates our commitment to deliver an iconic mixed-use development in the heart of London.”
