Contractor Multiplex has completed stage one of a $180m over 55s community known as The Terraces at Paddington in New South Wales, Australia.

The project, undertaken by the Presbyterian Aged Care, has been designed by JPR Architects. It is being developed at the Scottish Hospital site and is expected to be wrapped up by early 2019.

Stage one of the project involved construction of 10 independent living apartments known as Bradley Apartments, Watson’s Terrace featuring four independent living units on the roof level. Scope of work also included construction of a 100-bed residential aged care facility, which will replace the existing 88-bed residential aged care facility.

The project will also include construction of a further 13 independent living units, which are expected to open in mid-2018.

Stage two of the project will involve construction of 52 independent living units named MacCormick Apartments. This phase, which is expected to begin in early November, will also include construction of a library, theatrette and seniors gym, along with landscaping and parklands.

Multiplex regional managing director David Ghannoum said: “It’s fantastic to see the various components of accommodation at The Terraces coming together and creating a real sense of community for residents. We are very proud to be partnering with Presbyterian Aged Care to deliver high quality accommodation for our ageing population.”
