UK-based multidisciplinary consultancy Mott MacDonald has won a contract from the Royal College of Art (RCA) to serve as the lead consultant on its new education facility at the university’s Battersea South campus in London, UK.

The firm is working with Equals and Herzog & de Meuron to deliver the £108M project, which will help transform the RCA into a science, technology, engineering, arts and mathematics (STEAM) focused graduate university.

Under the contract, Mott MacDonald will provide building services, civil, structural, fire and acoustic engineering, strategic brief development and cost consultancy for the project.

Mott MacDonald and Equals will also provide project management support for the facility, with Herzog & de Meuron serving as architect.

Henry Luker, Mott MacDonald’s technical director, said: "Projects like this don’t come along very often. We’re looking forward to working with the RCA and Herzog & de Meuron to deliver a world class new building that will benefit all the students at the university for generations to come.”
