Michelin North America is set to construct a $270M new distribution centre near Spartanburg, South Carolina.
The project, to be located near the intersection of S.C. Highways 101 and 417, will include five buildings comprising nearly 306,600sq m of space in total.
The new centre will support the distribution of tyres under Michelin, BFGoodrich and Uniroyal brands for passenger vehicles, heavy trucks and agriculture equipment
Michelin North America chairman and president Pete Selleck said: "The Spartanburg distribution facility will cap a multi-year evolution of Michelin's distribution network in North America. We see it as a transformational milestone designed to better serve our customers while optimizing inventories and improving supply efficiency."
Construction work is anticipated to commence in late 2016 with the first phase of the project expected to open in late 2017. The overall project is expected to be completed in early 2019 and create about 350 jobs in the region.
