McLaren bags contract to deliver £190m residential project in UK

British construction firm McLaren has been awarded a contract for the construction of a £190m residential development in London’s Fitzrovia in the UK.The project is being developed by a joint venture of Art-Invest Real Estate UK, German real estate developer ECE, and Dukelease Properties.

Located a one-acre site on Cleveland Street in London W1, the scheme involves development of 88 luxury apartments, 35,000ft² of commercial space and 15 affordable housing units. It is scheduled for completion in 2021.

Art-Invest Real Estate UK development director Luka Vukotic said: “McLaren capability and approach aligns with our vision to create an outstanding building and a high-quality residential product in one of London’s most vibrant locations.”

Dukelease Properties CEO Richard Leslie said: “Fitzrovia is becoming one of London’s most sought-after areas and 101 on Cleveland Street will be a stunning addition to its residential market.”

UK-based Erith Group is currently undertaking demolition and substructure works on the island site while the main construction work is scheduled to commence in early next year.

McLaren London regional managing director David Miller said: “We’re excited to be working on delivering this prestigious project. McLaren has extensive experience in the residential and mixed-use sector, and it is great to be a part of a team delivering high-quality homes in this part of London.”

In June 2019, McLaren, in partnership with marketing firm Pico, has been selected as official construction partner by the UK Department of International Trade as for the 3,417m² two-level UK Pavilion for the Expo 2020 Dubai event.

McLaren and Pico will be responsible for the construction of the UK Pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, under the theme “Innovating for a Shared Future”.

Planned to be built in the expo’s ‘Opportunity’ district, the UK Pavilion was designed by UK artist and designer Es Devlin OBE and will be produced by global brand experience agency Avantgarde.
