McAleer & Rushe, a developer and contractor based in Northern Ireland, has secured planning permission for a £85m scheme to develop two multi-million-pound hotels in Birmingham and Glasgow City Centre.
The two hotels will together deliver 630 bedrooms and will be operated by Dalata Hotel Group, a hotel operator in Ireland, under its four-star Maldron brand.
McAleer & Rushe Contracts UK is scheduled to commence construction on both hotels later in 2019 complete the scheme within two years.
The first Maldron Hotel for Dalata in Scotland, the 300-bed 4-star Maldron Hotel Glasgow will be located on Renfrew St, close to Buchannan St and employ 100 staff.
The hotel is part of a wider masterplan by McAleer & Rushe to include 100,000ft² of Grade A office spaces.
A 330-bed hotel in Birmingham, the Maldron Hotel Birmingham will be located in the city centre and five-minute walk from New Street Station.
It will be delivered ahead of the 2022 Commonwealth Games and will employ up to 105 staff.
The development, which will regenerate a derelict site, will feature a business centre and ground floor bar and restaurant with guest rooms over 10 uppers floors.
