Battersea Power Station Development Company (BPSDC) has appointed Mace as the construction manager for the second phase of the Battersea Power Station development in London, UK.
Mace replaces Skanska, whose contract will finally end this autumn after working on the site without a formal contract since 2015.
Skanska has already completed the initial phase of the build, which includes site preparation, enabling works as well as some of the deconstruction and reconstruction of the chimneys at the site. Rising costs has forced Skanska to step aside and Mace will now take over the site after a two-month handover process.
The entire Battersea Power Station regeneration project will include 250 new retail, food and beverage units as well as about 2,000 capacity events venue.
It will also feature a chimney lift experience, a six-acre park and riverside walk enabling the Power Station to be opened to the public to enjoy for the first time.
Additionally, the Power Station building will provide nearly 500,000 sq ft of new office space, will be home to Apple’s new London Campus, 254 new residential homes and a new garden square.
Furthermore, the £9bn redevelopment of the 42-acre site includes a new tube station, new riverbus service, over three million sq ft of commercial space, including 1.25 million sq ft of office space and more than 4,000 homes.
