L&T Construction wins significant contracts across business units

L&T Construction, the construction arm of L&T, has secured orders from clients across various states in India.

The Smart World and Communication business has secured an order from the Tirupati Smart City Corporation to implement pan-city ICT solutions and design and construct a City Operations Centre (COC) for Tirupati.

Work includes implementation of smart elements such as CCTV cameras, variable message signage, PA and ECB systems, environmental sensors at smart bus stops, smart spots, elevated smart solutions locations, and construction of a smart COC building.

The business has bagged a project from the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of hi-tech labs for government high schools and higher secondary schools.

Work includes setting up hi-tech computer lab infrastructure and internet leased line connectivity for 3,090 government high schools and 2,939 government higher secondary schools across 32 districts in Tamil Nadu.

The project also includes the setting up of a Centralised Control Centre (CCC) to monitor, provision and manage IT components of schools with a helpdesk facility.

The business has also secured an add-on order from the Maharashtra Home Department for the expansion of CCTV-based Mumbai city surveillance system.

Scope of work includes enhancement of the CCTV network by 5,625 cameras at various junctions in the city.

The Buildings and Factories business has secured a design and build lumpsum turnkey project from an Indian energy company for the construction of transit storage yard, material receiving and dispatch centre facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

The facility is spread across eight lakh ft² and work is to be completed within 24 months.

The Power Transmission and Distribution business has secured EPC orders in India and abroad.

It secured an order for the design and construction of a 220kV Gas Insulated Substation and associated transmission lines and cables in Jharkhand to ensure uninterrupted power supply for the Ranchi Smart City.

On the international front, it has secured an order for the construction, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 132/11kV Substation and associated works in the UAE.

Earlier, L&T Hydrocarbon Engineering (LTHE) has won a large order from Tawfiq Coke Products, Oman.

The scope of work includes selection of technology licensor, FEED and EPC for a 2x225,000tpa plant of calcined coke from green pet coke.

Process facilities include material handling, rotary kiln and cooler, combustion chamber, gas separation and associated offsite and utilities packages.

The company classifies its projects under four categories. Significant contracts are worth INR10bn ($145m) to INR25bn ($362m), large contracts are valued between INR25bn ($362m) and INR50bn ($724m), major contracts are worth INR50bn ($724m) to INR70bn ($1bn), and contracts under mega classification are worth more than INR70bn ($1bn).
