L&T Construction, the construction arm of Larsen & Toubro, has won orders worth $373m (INR26.54bn) across various business segments in India.
The company’s Transportation Infrastructure business has won an order worth $294m (INR20.95bn) from the Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) for the construction of Package 10 of the six-lane Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway, between Fatiwabad and Surala villages in Aurangabad district in the state of Maharashtra.
To be completed in 30 months, the project involves construction of 57.95km of six-lane rigid pavement carriageway, 12.77km of service roads, 6.4km of cart tracks, three interchanges, one ROB, four major bridges, five canal bridges,19 minor bridges/canal bridge, 79 culverts, one VOP and 49 vehicular/pedestrian/cattle underpasses.
The Heavy Civil Infrastructure business has secured an order worth $78.5m (INR5.59bn) from MSRDC for the construction of the 1.837km Thane Creek Bridge-III across the Thane Creek Channel. The dual bridge will connect Mumbai and Navi Mumbai.
The Thane Creek Bridge-III will be the third bridge to be constructed across Thane Creek channel. The existing Bridge No 2 is not able to cater to the growing traffic. Bridge No 1 has been closed to traffic due to its poor condition.
After completion, the third bridge will provide seamless connectivity between Mumbai and Vashi.
In August 2018, L&T Construction’s Water and Effluent Treatment Business won an EPC order worth $195.8m (INR13.94bn) from the Water Resources Department, Government of Madhya Pradesh, for the execution of the Kundalia Irrigation Project – Right Bank.
The project is intended to provide water for micro-irrigation to more than 64,000 hectares of cultivable land in the Command Area of Rajgarh district of Madhya Pradesh. Water will be lifted from Right Bank of the Kundalia reservoir on the Kalisindh river.
Scope of work includes survey, investigation, design, procurement, construction and installing of pumping system, rising and gravity main line/branch lines/distribution network with control and automation system.
