L&T Construction wins large contracts in India and abroad

L&T Construction, the construction subsidiary of Larsen & Toubro, has won large contracts in India and abroad.

The company’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business has bagged several EPC orders across its various business lines.

In India, it has secured orders for the laying of underground cable in certain industrial areas and towns to improve the reliability of power supply.

Orders have also been won for solar powered irrigation systems.

The business unit has also secured orders from certain countries of the Middle East and the ASEAN region for substations and transmission lines.

Meanwhile, L&T has won a large order from Kuwait Oil (KOC).

The new export gas strategic pipeline and its associated facilities will run a span of approximately 145km.

The new strategic gas export pipeline contract has been awarded through international competitive bidding on a Lump Sum Turn Key (LSTK) basis.

The company is currently executing a new 48” Crude Transit Line (CTL) from North Kuwait to Central Mixing Manifold (CMM) located near Ahmadi (Kuwait).

The company said that this order from KOC reflects the confidence of oil and gas majors in L&T’s capabilities to execute large projects for the oil and gas industry globally.

Previously, L&T Construction has secured orders from clients across various states in India.

The Smart World and Communication business has secured an order from the Tirupati Smart City Corporation to implement pan-city ICT solutions and design and construct a City Operations Centre (COC) for Tirupati.

It has also bagged a project from the Tamil Nadu Textbook and Educational Services Corporation for the supply, installation, testing, commissioning and maintenance of hi-tech labs for government high schools and higher secondary schools.

The Buildings and Factories business secured a design and build lump sum turnkey project from an energy company in India for the construction of transit storage yard, material receiving and dispatch centre facility in Kakinada, Andhra Pradesh.

Similarly, the Power Transmission and Distribution business has secured an order for the construction, supply, installation, testing and commissioning of a 132/11kV Substation and associated works in the UAE.

The company classifies its projects under four categories. Significant contracts are worth INR10bn ($145m) to INR25bn ($362m), large contracts are valued between INR25bn ($362m) and INR50bn ($724m), major contracts are worth INR50bn ($724m) to INR70bn ($1bn), and contracts under mega classification are worth more than INR70bn ($1bn).
