L&T Construction wins large contracts in India

L&T Construction, the construction arm of engineering company L&T, has won large contracts from clients across different states in India.

The company’s Buildings and Factories business has secured an order from Jharkhand State Building Construction Corporation for the construction of two 500-bed hospitals at Jamshedpur and Dumka.

It has secured another order for the construction of a 108-metre-tall commercial complex at Raidurgam in Hyderabad.

Covering a built-up area of 3.6 lakh m², the project will consist of leasable area, high street retail frontage, retail plaza, recreational facilities, landscape areas and amenities such as multi-level car parking spaces.

Scope of work includes civil, structural works, architectural finishes and MEP works.

The project is to be completed within 32 months.

The business has also won an order from a construction machinery manufacturer to build a production facility in Gujarat.

The company’s Water and Effluent Treatment business has secured four orders from the Public Health Engineering Directorate of the Government of West Bengal.

Work involves the design and construction of intake well, water treatment plant, intermediate pumping station, groundwater reservoirs, overhead reservoirs, transmission mains, water distribution network and metering works in Bankura district.

The business also secured a repeat EPC order from the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority for the investigation, design and construction of water supply, sewerage, STP, roads, drains, culverts, utility ducts for power and ICT, reuse waterline, IPS and avenue plantation in layouts for land pooling schemes for Krishnayapalem (P) and Venkatapalem (P) in Zone 8A of Amaravati City.

It has won another EPC order from Faridabad Smart City for civic infrastructure, construction/upgrade of road networks (Phases 1 and 2), underground cabling of HT/LT transformers, street lighting, landscaping and other works in Faridabad.

The business has also won another order from Patna Smart City, Bihar, for the retrofitting and re-development of storm water drains, smart road network according to urban street design principles, development of footpaths, utility corridor, streetscaping, vendor and parking zone creation, installation of street furniture with smart street lighting, smart bus stops and allied works in Patna.

The company classifies its projects under four categories. Significant contracts are worth INR10bn ($145m) to INR25bn ($362m), large contracts are valued between INR25bn ($362m) and INR50bn ($724m), major contracts are worth INR50bn ($724m) to INR70bn ($1bn), and contracts under mega classification are worth more than INR70bn ($1bn).
