L&T Construction secures large contracts in India

L&T Construction, the construction arm of L&T, has secured large orders from clients across various states in India.

The company’s Buildings and Factories Business has secured an order for the construction of Campus Development of IIT Hyderabad Package 3A at Kandi in the state of Telangana.

The project consists of several buildings, such as a Sports and Cultural Complex, Research Centre Complex, Knowledge Centre with hyperbolic paraboloid shell roof, Technology Incubation Park, Technology Research Park, International Guest House and Academic blocks.

The project is to be completed in 36 months.

The business unit has secured another order from an Indian real estate development company for the construction of ‘Asset 13 project’ at Aerocity in New Delhi.

The project comprises hotel building, Grade-A office complex, international conference and business centre as well as multi-level car parking spaces. The project is to be completed in 22.5 months.

It has also secured add-on orders from some of its existing projects.

The company’s Metallurgical and Material Handling Business has secured an order from BHEL for Ash Handling Plant (AHP) to be installed at NTPC, Patratu Thermal Power Plant (3x660MW) in the state of Jharkhand.

AHP, the first of its kind dry bottom ash handling system, is environment friendly in terms of 100% ash utilisation and water consumption.

The business unit has also secured orders in various products segments and add-ons from ongoing jobs in domestic and Gulf region.

L&T GeoStructure Business has secured an order from CMRL for the Central Square underground space development. Scope of work includes construction of diaphragm walls and three basements.

The Heavy Civil Infrastructure Business has secured large orders from Bangalore Metro Rail Corporation for the design and construction of Phase 2 works.

The scope of work for Package 2 includes underground structures (tunnels and stations), approximately 2.76km, from Vellara Junction station to Shivajinagar station and three UG Metro Stations at Vellara Junction, MG Road and Shivajinagar on the Reach-6 line.

Work under Package 3 involves design and construction of underground structures (tunnels and stations), approximately 2.884km, from Shivajinagar Station to Tannery Road Station and two UG Metro Stations at Cantonment and Pottery Town on the same metro rail line.

The project is to be completed in 42 months.

The company classifies its projects under four categories. Significant contracts are worth INR10bn ($141m) to INR25bn ($353m), large contracts are valued between INR25bn ($353m) and INR50bn ($706m), major contracts are worth INR50bn ($706m) to INR70bn ($988m), and contracts under mega classification are worth more than INR70bn ($988m).
