L&T Construction secures contracts worth $331m

L&T Construction, the construction arm of L&T, has been awarded contracts valued at INR21.7bn ($331.1m) across various business segments.

The company’s Water & Effluent Treatment Business, in a joint venture (JV), won INR15.47bn ($236m) order for a major reservoir. The scope of work includes building an earth bund of length 4.3km with a height of 55m at its maximum with all associated works.

L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business secured orders worth INR6.23bn ($95m) from both domestic as well as overseas clients. Power Grid Corporation of India awarded a contract for the supply and execution of +320kV Pugalur – Trichur HVDC line, while Eastern Power Distribution Company of A.P. Limited (APEPDCL) placed an order for providing underground cable works in Visakhapatnam city in Andhra Pradesh.

Under APEPDCL’s contract, L&T will replace the HT and LT overhead lines with underground power cables to modernise the power system network linking seven 33/11kV substations in the zone– 1 division of Visakhapatnam.

L&T’s Power Transmission & Distribution Business, together with its consortium partners, won a contract from the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) for the supply and construction of a 500kV transmission line from Bang Saphan 2 to Surat Thani 2 substations.
